The Elkhorn Cadet Squadron emblem is a disc and scroll design with several features that pay homage to our past and proudly represent our present and future. Featuring a cardinal flying up and away, we pay respect to our heritage of Air Force JROTC, as the cardinal was the symbol of our former AFJROTC corps. Additionally, the cardinal connects KY-225 to new beginnings, aviation, and the growth and success of cadet programs. The sky’s the limit! The patch also features our namesake, gold elk antlers, framing the white triangle and red propeller of Civil Air Patrol. These antlers are indicative of the strength and persistence that went into the formation of our squadron. The antlers also represent the strong effort that we put into emergency services, drill and all that our squadron does. The four white stars represent Civil Air Patrol’s four core values of integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect. These stars are white because they reflect how we want to pursue the core values, with sincerity and purity. And lastly, the white triangle and red propeller symbol of Civil Air Patrol is present to remind us that Civil Air Patrol is at the heart of all that we do.
