Commander

COLONEL BRIAN W. SCHMUCK

Colonel Brian W. Schmuck assumed command of Kentucky Wing Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary on 27 March 2021. In this role, he is responsible for the command and administration of more than 650 volunteers, 8 powered aircraft, and 18 vehicles.

Colonel Schmuck began his CAP career as a cadet with the RiverCity Cadet Squadron in 1995 and became an officer in 2000.  He went on to serve in command assignments at the squadron and group level.  He has served as a wing Director of Emergency Services and Director of Safety, and served at the region level as Deputy Chief of Staff for Emergency Services.  He is currently a national ambassador for CAP’s ACE Plus Adopt program. 

Colonel Schmuck is a current Incident Commander (level 1), Mission Observer, and Ground Branch Director.  He holds a master rating in Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and Logistics and a technician rating in Cadet Programs and Communications.  Outside of CAP, Colonel Schmuck works in inventory management for BWX Technologies and serves on the Board of Directors for an after-school STEM program in his community.  He and his wife, Dr. Heather Schmuck, reside in Mt. Vernon, Indiana with their three children.
