SMSGT DOUG CORDOVA

SMSgt Douglas Cordova is a resident of Bowling Green, Kentucky and has been a member of Civil Air Patrol since October 2017.  SMSgt Cordova served a career in the US Army and US Navy with multiple overseas deployments and having served in various leadership roles.  Currently assigned as the Kentucky Wing Command NCO after previous assignments as Group and Squadron NCO; National Staff as the Team NCO for the National Mentoring Committee, and as a cohort instructor for Volunteer University; at Kentucky Wing he also serves in additional duties as Director of Cadet Programs and supports the Emergency Services department as a trainer. 

SMSgt Cordova is a qualified Mission Scanner and Aircrew Water Survival Instructor.  He is a qualified Ground Branch Director, Ground (SAR) Team Leader, DAART Operator, Liaison Officer, Logistics Section Chief, and various other operational specialties.  SMSgt Cordova attends and supports the Hawk Mountain Ranger School where he has earned the Ranger 1st Class title.  

SMSgt Cordova leads the Kentucky Volunteer Training Flight, an innovative solution to new senior member training, engagement, and retention.  Under SMSgt Cordova's leadership, new senior members from around the wing may be transferred to the training flight where they will receive focused training and mentoring through various Education and Training levels as well as receive a Technician Rating in a specialty track and an operational mission qualification.  The primary focus is to support wing squadrons who have limited training and mentor resources so that their personnel can receive vital initial training and education so that they may be returned to their squadron and able to contribute.  

As the Wing Command NCO, SMSgt Cordova provides his military leadership, dedication, and experience to both Kentucky Wing NCOs and officers and serves on the Kentucky Wing command team.  He is an advisor to the Wing Commander on issues of good order and discipline, education and training, mission training, and cadet programs.
