GLR-KY-214 Bowman Field Senior Squadron Emblem

GLR-KY-214 Bowman Field Senior Squadron
(Adopted and Approved 10 APR 2020)

The colors represent the official colors of the Civil Air Patrol: ultramarine blue, pimento red, Air Force yellow and silver gray. At the fess point are the wings and prop which are the same symbol that appears on the historic Bowman Field terminal building.

The checkerboards of blue and red at the dexter chief and sinister base evoke the image of a Kentucky Derby jockey’s silks. The symbol of the Civil Air Patrol Tri-blade is positioned in the sinister chief of the patch. The Fleur-de-lis, placed in the dexter base, represents the city of Louisville Kentucky. Finally, the motto of KY-214, “POTESTIS FACERE” appears in the upper scroll, while the unit designation, BOWMAN FIELD SENIOR SQ, appears on the bottom scroll.
